2.5 lbs. beef tongue

2.5 beef lip

Lemon cut in half

1 tablespoon of garlic powder

1 leaf of laurel

1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

2 jalapeño peppers cut in half

½ chopped onion

2 tablespoon of salt



1Put in a big pot the beef tongue and lip, add salt to taste, lemon, garlic powder and a leaf of laurel. Cook it over low heat. Let it cook for around 6 hours.

2Turn off the heat. Separate the meat from the water, and put them in different containers.

3Clean and peel the tongue removing the external layer.

4Chop the meat and put it in a frying pan.

5Add water to the pan so it doesn’t dry out after a while (use the water used to cook the meat).

6Put the vegetable oil over another frying pan and cook it over low heat for around two minutes.

7Cook the onion and peppers on the frying pan until they get browned (2 minutes approximately).

8Use the browned onion and jalapeño peppers to decorate the barbacoa; putting them by the side or over the top of the meat.
